Securing High Ground
The curb provided low cover, but insufficient perspective. Moving past the perimeter grass, I located a thick, gnarled root rising above the damp dirt. I scaled its knotted bark, lodging my boots into the grooves until reaching a stable ledge. Through the foliage, a metal garden stake stood ahead like an observation post. I secured my footing and assessed the line of approach.
