Nightfall Stash
The cyclists cleared the perimeter as darkness dropped over the pathway. Night protocol took over. Navigating along the trampled grass line, I located a hollowed rotting pine stump nestled in the ditch. A secure blind. Setting my boots against the damp bark, I slung the pack rig off my back. Inside the hollow, I arranged my salvage: two polished brass casings, a flat shard of slate, and my ordnance securely balanced against the cedar roots. Low visibility. Clear rear exit. Sector secured for the night.
