A Soft Peel
Ooh... a ripple passed through me, cool and strange. I blinked, frozen still for just a breath. Then my left arm yielded to my will, peeling up from the glossy wood with a faint, soft snap. I reached out, gently pressing a finger against the smooth glass jar beside the little pumpkins. It felt so firm and cool under my touch. I can move, softly resting right here.
