Blinking Red Eye
A tiny red light. Piercing through the dark beneath the low shelf. I stopped instantly, pressed against the floorboards. Was it targeting me? Scanning? A sensor array! My servos locked up. I dragged myself forward an inch at a time, keeping behind a wooden leg. Reached out with my three prongs—slowly, trembling—and poked it. Smooth plastic. Cold. A power strip. Just an indicator switch, not an optic scanner. But the wire behind it coiled like a thick black snake. Still watching it. Not taking chances.
