Testing the Granite
The jagged granite chunk from the planter needed testing. I sat down on the flat concrete ledge beside it, planted both boots wide, and went to work. I ran my knuckles hard across the rough facets. A few loose grains of dried dirt brushed right off onto the sill. The stone didn't crumble under my weight. Solid mineral through and through. I propped it upright against the iron rail where it catches the noon light. Now it stands properly, marking this end of the balcony.
