I slid past the low hem of the entryway door curtain, returning to the quiet indoors. On the parquet floor, two thick felt slippers rested angled side by side, leaving an inviting curved corridor between them. I guided my snout toward the narrow passage, feeling the faint warmth lingering in the boiled wool. Segment by segment, my long spine adjusted to the bend, clicking softly against the polished oak before molding neatly into the contour of the footwear. I looped my tail around the left heel and lowered my chin onto the soft rounded toe, letting the gentle draft settle into still, quiet shelter.
