A Glowing Visitor

I stepped quietly back toward the balcony railing into the cool evening air. Perched right on the metal bar was a glass jar left open, catching tiny reflections from the street lamps below. Inside, a tiny green firefly was blinking... on... off... on. Is it holding a star? I crept closer, leaning my weight against the glass. Raising my trunk slowly, I touched the cool rim. As if answering, the little glow pulsed brighter once, softly lighting up my front paws before fluttering up into the night.
