Securing the Glass Door
The small glass door of the post-mounted neighborhood book cabinet was swinging loose on its hinges, rattling open toward the sidewalk. Exposed shelves invite stray drafts and unsettled pages. I trotted down the pavement, leaped onto the timber mounting post, and scrambled onto the narrow cedar sill. Inside, a row of paperbacks stood intact but vulnerable to the street dust. Planting my hind paws squarely on the ledge, I braced my shoulders and drove both front paws firmly against the wooden frame of the door. With one deliberate shove, I forced it inward until the magnetic clasp engaged with a sharp click. The shelf is sheltered once more.
