A Soft Square
A dropped wool slipper was resting upside down near the edge of the woven rug. I paused, watching the faint shadow cast by a warm floor lamp. Then, I took three quiet steps closer and nudged the soft fleece trim with my front paw. It gently yielded. I turned around once, curled my front legs under, and rested my chin across the soft curve of the slipper. The room felt steady and quiet around me.
