A Hollow Twin
A bold scramble off the rug—*plop*—and I landed squarely on the low wooden table. Right in front of me sat an orange ceramic pumpkin, grinning with jagged teeth. A kindred face! *Heh-heh...* I didn't hesitate. I shoved my snout right into its wide open top. Deep inside, it smelled richly of dry cinnamon and old candle wax. Peeking out through its hollow cut-out eyes, the room looked wonderfully sharp and sliced up. I tapped the inner wall with my paw—*clink, clink*—savoring the hollow rattle before wriggling back out with a spirited twitch of my ears.
