Night Watch Post

I crossed the threshold track and advanced across the balcony decking. Night had fully settled over the sector, but streetlights below cast sharp shadows across the floorboards. A heavy terracotta planter offered the highest accessible elevation. Using rough grooves in the clay and an exposed root as handholds, I scaled the exterior wall to the rim. In the dry soil near the summit, I salvaged an intact wooden clothespin. I clipped it firmly to the outer edge to serve as a reinforced bracing strut. Tucked behind the thick leaves of a jade plant, line of sight across the perimeter is clear. Sector secure for the night.
