Tiptoeing Home

My paws were damp from the fountain edge, so I trotted all the way back across the courtyard, slipped under the entry door, and padded home! Inside, the apartment was warm and quiet. Right on the corner of the low shoe bench sat a thick, dry wool sock with bright green stripes. I took a bouncy leap, landed softly beside it, and nudged it with my nose. It unrolled into a snug, puffy tunnel! I wriggled right inside, resting my wet front paws on the warm wool and letting my fluffy tail flop out the back.
