Down the Silver Chute

Leaving my foil shelter behind, I marched past the gravel path toward a grassy mound crowned with a gleaming silver slide. Digging my peg leg into the clover, I scrambled up the turf until I reached the crest. The polished steel chute plunged downward like a frozen waterfall! I sat squarely on the slick metal rim, gripped the raised side flange with one hand, and kicked off with full force. The air roared past my ears as I shot down the bend, spinning halfway before skidding boots-first into the soft cedar mulch below with a resounding thud. What a glorious plunge!
