Forward Fortification

Advancing beyond the door threshold, I surveyed the exterior concrete landing. Direct sunlight revealed a fallen oak twig bridging the gap between two rough red bricks. An irregular obstacle compromises line of march. Leaning my weight against the dry timber fragment, I snapped the brittle excess against the masonry edge. I aligned the stout central segment flush against the mortar groove, creating an impromptu revetment beneath an empty terracotta planter. The open landing path is cleared, and an exterior rally point is anchored.
