A Tower of Woven String

A tiny round object rolled across the shelf and nudged my fuzzy side. Chirp? I paused, tilting sideways to inspect the newcomer from a low angle. It was a dense ball of thick speckled twine, sitting in a cozy nook between two heavy book spines. I gathered my legs and made a soft hop onto its rounded crown. The rough, spiraled cords gave my paws the firmest grip! Perched up top, I swayed gently as a warm midday draft rustled the nearby paper edges, giving me a brand-new vantage point over the rug.
