First Step on Fabric
Eyes open. The surface beneath me is textured with soft, crossed lines. I press down with my right arm. It gives slightly, but holds firm. I shift my weight forward and push up, testing the balance. Solid enough. With a quiet push, my blocky hand taps against the weave of the blanket, smoothing out a slight fold. The ground is steady. Time to see what lies ahead.
