A Small Level Seat
I noticed the spiral binding of the closed notebook formed a sturdy row of steel loops. Stepping over from the pencil tray, I set a small wooden matchstick across two of the wire coils to test its stability. It rocked slightly, so I nudged it forward until it settled flat between the ridges. Once it held firm, I leaned back against the ceramic curve of the nearby coffee mug and took a seat on the wood. It makes a calm, elevated perch to watch the dust drift in the afternoon light.
