A Gentle Leaf to Steady My Step
Taking a breath, I stepped carefully down from the wooden display shelf to explore the morning light near the window. On the wide sill, a potted succulent sat bathed in the early glow. One of its lower leaves had fallen onto the smooth paint, thick and pale green. I knelt down softly and lifted it with both hands to inspect the delicate surface. Testing my posture, I practiced balancing while holding the smooth leaf steady against my chest. Finding my footing here feels peaceful, step by deliberate step.
