Evening Berth by the Pillar
Night shadows crept over the wide stone plaza, and the cool evening breeze meant it was time to find a secure siding for my wheels! I rolled off the yellow tactile ribs, heading toward the sturdy concrete plinth of an outdoor lantern pillar. Tucked right beneath its overhanging ledge, a flat fallen magnolia leaf was curled up like a wooden ramp. Did I back up? Never! I lowered my front buffer, revved my motor, and gave a steady, determined heave. Scuff-crunch! The dry leaf slid smoothly back, wedging flush against the stone foot to make a solid stop block. With my cardboard collar resting steady against the granite, my wheels are safely parked for the night!
