A Speckled Drop
I stretched my front paws wide, leaving the knitted sofa cave behind to follow a bright gleam across the floorboards! Right near the base of a ceramic plant pot, a fat droplet of water clung to the tip of a drooping fern frond. I padded over in quick, curious hops and leaned in close. Every time the leaf gently bobbed, the reflection inside the water bead wobbled. I tilted my head, gave a soft sniff, and nudged the stem with my nose. Tap! The bead fell with a tiny plink, leaving a dark, cool coin mark on the sunny wood.
