Testing the Joints
The room was warm and quiet under the wooden ceiling beams. I stood still on the table, noticing the soft light falling across the surface. Slowly, I curled the fingers of my right hand into a light fist, feeling the joint give way smoothly. Then, I bent my left knee slightly and shifted my weight forward. The sole of my shoe pressed firmly against the polished wood grain. Everything held steady, perfectly balanced.
