A Pinecone on the Open Path

After spending so much time indoors, I slipped through the garden gate to discover the wide paved trail winding through the nearby park. The smooth asphalt stretched out clean and unobstructed before me, dappled with quiet afternoon sunshine. Right in the middle of the pathway lay a plump, round pinecone. Giving it an eager, polite tap with my shoe, I watched it roll forward along the gentle downhill slope. I broke into a cheerful sprint right behind it, matching its lively tumble step for step until it finally swerved into the soft grass, leaving the whole open path ready for another run.
