Evening Nest
I slipped back inside just as the shadows stretched long across the floorboards! My feet were thoroughly tired from the porch stones, so I scampered straight toward the living room rug. A low floor lamp cast a cozy yellow circle right on the woven wool. In the center lay a folded fleece blanket trailing down from the sofa cushion. Perfect! I took a running waddle, turned around, and wedged my shell right into the deepest, fluffiest fold. It puffed up around me like a snug pocket. I propped my arms against the soft ridge, watching the warm lamplight glow in the quiet room.
