The Click-Tock Case

My feet scampered right off the curb onto the ribbed metal bumper of a big parked van! Tucked in the shadowed corner sat a hard plastic eyeglasses case with a spring snap. I threw my whole chest against the lid, wrapping both hands around the curved edge, and gave a sharp heave upward! Clack-shuck! The spring popped wide open with an audible snap that echoed right off the hollow van doors! Inside, nestled in soft velvet, was a folded silky cleaning cloth printed with bright blue stars! I poked the soft cloth, and the case gave a gentle, springy bounce right against my knees—wondering if it snaps shut just as loud?
