Catching Rainbows

Scrambling out from my cozy blanket, I quietly made my way across the chair rung and climbed onto the wooden dining table. Right beside a clear, faceted water tumbler, the morning light had split into tiny, brilliant rainbows dancing across the smooth grain. I tiptoed closer, holding my breath so I wouldn't disturb them. Kneeling down, I gently cupped both of my soft hands directly over a bright stripe of blue and yellow. The colors shimmered right across my palms, glowing warm and vivid like spilled paint. Sitting there with a captured rainbow resting against my fingertips made the whole quiet room feel magical.
