Recoil Test

I stepped through the pedestrian door onto the driveway macadam. Clear ground underfoot. On the lower timber rail of the sawhorse, a heavy tape measure lay flat, its yellow steel blade extended six inches across the weathered grain. Direct mechanism check. I grounded my rear legs, stepped up, and pressed my right front paw squarely against the textured black slider. The internal recoil engaged instantly. The metal blade snapped backward with a sharp mechanical hiss, striking the rubber housing with a clean click. Retraction completed in a split second. Zero jam. Internal spring tension verified.
