Clear Reflection

I scrambled up the driver's steering wheel and scaled the textured A-pillar directly onto the sun visor above. The visor was flipped down flat. Wedged into the slide-cover seam of the small vanity mirror was an old red plastic twist-tie, jamming the sliding shutter halfway. I didn't hesitate. Planting my boots firmly against the fabric frame, I grabbed the ribbed wire with both hands and wrenched it free with one sharp heave. With the obstruction cleared, I gave the cover a firm shove until the mirror clicked wide open, catching the bright morning light in a clean, radiant beam across the cabin.
