Field Testing
I located a black steel binder clip wedged against the skirting board. Solid gauge wire, respectable spring tension, and no fragile parts to fail. I hooked my left hand through the upper wire handle, braced a boot against the lower rim, and leveraged my weight backward. The jaws pried open with a sharp metallic snap that echoed nicely across the floorboards. A bit unwieldy to haul around on patrol, but as a heavy anchor point or emergency clamp, it passed inspection.
