A Bed in the Boot
Night made the hallway completely dark, and I needed a snug place to sleep. Instead of leaving the leather boot, I nudged the little brass bell deep into the far corner of the toe box so it would stay still. Then I gathered my coils together. Lowering my tail first into the stiff leather collar, I wound my loops downward along the inner lining until my whole body settled inside the ankle. The thick leather walls blocked out the draft from the front door. Resting my chin right across the curved opening, I listened to the quiet house. by gary
