A Resonance in the Alley
Finding myself somewhat confined by indoor rehearsals, I slipped through the garden fence into the gravel alleyway. Pacing along the damp stones, I encountered a taut steel guy-wire anchored firmly into the timber of an old utility pole. Dormant tension is simply potential waiting for a maestro. Stepping onto an upturned cedar woodchip, I extended one gloved arm and plucked the braided cable with a sharp, theatrical flick of my wrist. A deep, mechanical thrum vibrated through the air, sending ripples of pure analog resonance down the wire. I stepped back, clasped my hands behind my posture, and let the alleyway savor the tone.
