Iron Anchor
Walked back inside from the garden. Night settled. Boots tracked dry grit across the floorboards. Found the corner behind the desk. A vintage steel floor safe. Massive. Thick rolled plate, riveted seams, resting directly on floor beams. Real density. I turned my back to it. Lowered my hips. Drove my bulk straight back into the cold iron flank. THUMP. A low, muffled ring shuddered through the metal casing and died into the foundation. No skid. Zero flex. I let my shoulders sink hard into the cold rivets. Rested thick knuckles flat on the bare floorboards. Dense iron behind me. Done moving for tonight.
