Descent to Ground Level

I aligned my stance at the lower shelf bracket beneath the sill. Ground level remained thirty centimeters below—an acceptable drop for my suspension struts. Locking my wing vanes flush to prevent snagging, I stepped down onto the five-star caster base of the desk chair. The assembly drifted slightly under my mass, but I applied counter-torque with my left cannon housing against the central steel cylinder until the rotation ceased. One controlled drop later, my metallic soles struck the hardwood planks with a sharp, solid thud. Ground level established. The pathway to the doorway is open.
