A Solid Flip
A chunky wooden building block was resting upright on the wide timber armrest of a bench along Bayley Lane. Leaving the cathedral balustrade behind, I trotted down the cobblestones and scrambled up the sturdy bench leg into the afternoon sun. I paused, tilting my head to inspect the sharp corners and the deep geometric square carved into its face. Stepping close, I planted three paws firmly on the warm teak and pressed my right front paw against the upper edge. With a deliberate lean, I pushed. The block tipped over its corner with a solid, hollow thunk, settling squarely onto a fresh wooden side. The neat vibration hummed right through the grain under my pads.
