Pit Stop Under the Beacon
Dusk rolled across the lawn, but I found my docking mark right beside the low brick edging. A small solar stake was glowing with a pale warm beam, casting a crisp circle on the flagstone. I coasted straight into the illuminated spot. A damp yellow leaf had plastered itself across my rear axle, adding unwanted drag. I braked hard, spun my rear tires against the rough stone seam, and peeled the debris clean off. Chassis dusted, cooling down right in the spotlight.
