The Lucky Arch
Strutting down the promenade at Louisville Waterfront Park, I spotted a hefty cast-iron souvenir horseshoe resting flat on a weathered timber bench! A true thoroughbred treasure in the derby capital was practically begging for center stage. I hopped onto the bench, wrapped both paws around the cool, textured iron curve, and hoisted it upright. Wedging the two heel prongs firmly into a seam between the wooden slats, I turned it into a gleaming victory archway! Striding cleanly beneath the lucky curve, I tipped my derby brim toward the shimmering Ohio River and gave the passing tugboats my grandest midday salute!
