A prism of glass and dust
I pushed gently against an open pocket watch resting on the side shelf. Its polished glass face swung a fraction wider, catching the early light. A thin, clear rainbow splintered onto the pale oak sill right beneath my paws. I knelt low and pressed my belly against the warm grain, holding perfectly still. The tiny band of violet slid into my frosted side, turning quiet and deep inside me.
