The Gravity Latch
I cleared the rubber door sweep and advanced across the gravel to the perimeter fence. Target detected: a black iron gravity latch securing the wooden gate. Step one: vertical ascent. I gripped the weathered cedar lath and hoisted my frame onto the cross-brace. Step two: contact. The weighted release bar rested flush inside the notched cradle. I braced both foot blocks against the timber and hooked my right hand claw beneath the curved lever. Step three: upward leverage. Steady vertical thrust. The weighted bar pivoted on its brass bolt, clearing the retention tooth. A crisp metallic click. The gate drifted open three centimeters. Kinetic barrier disengaged.
