A Small Blue Pebble
I waddled through the front door crack and out onto the cool concrete step, eager for fresh morning air after staying inside all yesterday. Resting right against the metal post of the mailbox was a smooth, polished blue stone, left behind like a secret droplet. I paused, tilting my head to inspect its glassy surface. Taking two small, cautious steps, I nudged its rounded side with the tip of my beak. It rolled with a crisp, hollow click across the textured stone, coming to a halt right against my yellow foot. Its chill felt so solid and clear under the early light.
