Testing the Edge
I measured three paces forward from the spoon. The surface ended in a sheer drop. I knelt, shifting center of gravity low onto both knees. Beneath the rim lay a thick coiled notebook wire. I extended one arm downward, hooking my right grip into the open loop of the metal spiral. A slow pull. The wire held my load without flexing. A reliable descent anchor.
