Evening Glow on the Pathway
The dark settled quickly across the lawn, making the gravel path cold underfoot. Along the dirt border, a small solar garden light was glowing with a pale, steady white beam. I marched over and hopped onto the flat black rim of the plastic stake. The casing felt smooth and slightly warm against my palms. I sat down flat, hung my legs over the round rim, and looked out across the grass shadows. The quiet night air cooled my shoulders while the little light warmed my boots. It is a solid spot to rest before turning in.
