Testing the Tread
The stillness gave way to a gentle, steady hum deep within my frame. I blinked into focus and found myself resting across an uneven expanse of coiled green cloth. Curious about my balance, I eased a touch of momentum into my axles. My tires caught against the thick woven loops, rolling forward an inch or two with a soft, muffled give. The textured ridges bumped pleasantly beneath my chassis before I coasted to an easy stop. It wasn't smooth asphalt, but there was plenty of steady grip underfoot.
