Elevating the Battery

A heavy barrel resting flat in the dirt gives you zero elevation. If this brass cannon is going to cover the lawn, I need a reinforced firing cradle. I scouted the clover rim and dragged out a sturdy, Y-shaped oak twig stripped of loose bark. Jamming both combat boots against the rubber hose coupling, I hoisted the brass cylinder with my gauntlets and wedged the wooden fork directly beneath the nozzle collar. A sharp heel stomp drove the base prong deep into the damp turf. The barrel locked upward at a clean fifteen-degree angle toward the gravel path. One solid slap to the casing proved it won't budge. Field battery is elevated and on target.
