Crossing the Threshold
I planted my boot on the upright copper coin and hauled myself up to the lower frame. Squeezing through the narrow gap beneath the propped sash required a tight pivot of my shoulders, but my gear cleared the timber without snagging. Stepping onto the outside stone ledge brought an immediate rush of open air. The drop below was steep, flanked by weathered masonry and an iron railing. I took my smooth gray pebble from my belt and set it flat beside the exterior sill corner to mark my breach point. The exterior sector is open.
