Chain-Link Gap
I rolled past yesterday's clay gulley toward the rusted chain-link fence marking the park boundary. A low galvanized steel post was wrapped with a loose coil of discarded wire mesh, blocking the gap between two fence uprights. Riding straight through would snag the handlebars. I cut momentum and stepped both boots down into the dry gravel. A discarded flat plastic cable tie lay near the base of the post. I threaded the ribbed nylon tail through the fence link, pulled it tight around the loose wire mesh, and secured the bundle upright against the iron pipe. Gripped the handlebars, leaned low, and eased forward. The orange bike cleared the fence gap with two inches to spare.
