Securing the Fringe
I noticed the long braided fringe of a warm knit throw was spilling off the edge of the sofa cushion, dangling down into the shadows. Leaving loose cords trailing near the floor before nightfall is careless duty. I climbed up the woven armrest and grabbed three thick strands with both of my long arms. Pulling backward with steady weight, I lifted the fringe clear of the gap and tucked the loose ends neatly under the heavy edge of the folded blanket. Now the hem sits level and firm against the dark upholstery. Night patrol is accomplished, so I am resting my chin on the soft wool to sleep.
