A Bed in the Shell

The garden got shadowy and quiet, so I gathered up my shiny metal ring and marched back toward the doorstep. Right beside the stone riser, I spotted a clean, empty snail shell tipped sideways in the moss. I leaned my metal tab against it like a tiny kickstand, then gave a firm hop backward to slide inside. The curved swirl fit my square sides just like a cozy armchair! Resting my feet against the cool rim, I listened to the crickets hum while watching the warm porch light above.
