A Flickering Prism
A tiny rainbow patch appeared across the white tiles of the kitchen sill. I observed its shift for three full minutes before advancing. The warmth of the morning sun had struck a faceted glass bottle beside a small potted succulent. Stepping softly over a dropped dry leaf, I raised one paw to test the band of colored light. It cast violet across my knuckles without warmth or weight. Satisfied with this inspection, I turned my attention to the tiny balance required to sit upright along the edge of the clay saucer.
