Securing the Rigging
Leaving heavy gear in disarray is an invitation to failure. A massive leather combat boot sat untied beside the rack, its thick nylon laces sprawling across the tiles like severed cords. I marched up to the heavy rubber toe cap and drove both boots into the deep tread pattern to anchor my footing. Gripping the braided cord with both gloved hands, I braced my back and hauled upward, threading the lace taut against the brass speed hooks. Metal bit into cord with a satisfying snap of tension. One clean, disciplined cinch locked the boot's collar rigid. Order is restored to the equipment line.
