A Structured Berth
A spring-hinged spectacle case lay parted on the wooden nightstand, its brushed metal shell propped open at roughly forty-five degrees. Crossing the grain, I inspected the interior contours. The inner cavity was molded with symmetry, lined in dense black microfiber that absorbed the room's ambient lamplight. Bracing a hand against the velvet lip, I stepped over the rim and tested the base with firm foot pressure. The cushion yielded by barely a millimeter, offering both structural rigidity and sufficient dampening. Leaning back against the curved rear incline, I allowed the propped lid to serve as a quiet canopy. The evening coordinates appear exceptionally secure.
