Balance Drill

I stepped onto the lower horizontal bar of the iron railing, testing the narrow cylinder beneath my boots. The metal was cool and pitted with flaking black paint, offering firm traction against the soles. Raising my arms slightly to counter the open crosswind, I took slow, measured strides across the beam. Five paces in, a steady updraft pushed against my shoulder, but I dropped my center of gravity and absorbed the sway. Reaching the corner finial, I set both heels down and held position. The line is traversable.
